And unlike many other things I buy at Sam's, the bake items come in bulk packs and in quantities that are reasonable for smaller families. All the flavors of buns come in pans of six ($4.98, about 83 cents per bun), but you can also choose a nine-bun variety. If you buy breakfast for the office, you can buy a box of 60 muffins in bulk!

Another big favorite of mine for parties and barbecues are ciabatta rolls, which come in packs of 80. But they also come in packs of eight, which is much more manageable for a family of two.

ADVICE:You only pay $0.75 per muffin if you buy a dozencostco bakery.

3. Each Sam's Club location has a bakery, but some bakeries are larger than others.

During my research, I found out that every Sam's Club store has a bakery. For the most part, all of Sam's Club bakeries offer the same items, especially the staples like freshly baked breads and rolls, cookie sheets, freshly baked cupcakes and muffins.

However, some stores have larger bakeries. In larger bakeries, you can find additional muffin, danish, and bagel flavors. And sometimes these larger bakeries try new items. But then again, all of Sam's Bakeries are pretty similar!

4. Bakery hours vary by location, so call ahead.

A Sam's Club Bakerylocationsthey have different opening hours than the actual store. Usually the bakery opens at the same time as the rest of the store, but in some locations the bakery opens an hour or two later.

For special orders, please call ahead to ensure a bakery attendant is available. Some locations have specialty cake decorators who work limited hours, and will sometimes ask you to make an appointment if you're placing a large custom order.

5. Sam's Club Bakery sells many things similar to Walmart, but not exactly the same items.

7 Things You Should Know About Sam's Club Bakery (4)

Since Sam's Club is owned by Walmart, people often wonder if the bakery items in both stores are the same, but they're not. Both retailers offer the same types of things (bread, muffins, etc.), but the recipes are different.

Obviously, Sam's offers more bulk items than Walmart. For example, Walmart does not have 60 muffin pans. But the general consensus is that thefritofrom Sam's Club tastes better, while thewalmart bakeryIt has the most delicious pastries overall. (This is completely debatable, of course!)

As a savvy Sam's Club shopper (and eater) I'll share my top three must eats from the bakery section.

  • Member's Mark Yeast Rolls: Freshly Baked Bagels come in a pack of 24 for just $3.98, which means each bagel is only $0.16! Compare this withTarget's classic sandwiches, which are $0.36 cents each (and not that tasty in my opinion).
  • Lid's Mark Blueberry Muffins: You should add these muffins to your Sam's Club shopping list. Their Blueberry Muffins ($4.98 for six) taste like Starbucks ($2.99 for one), and you pay three times less per muffin. Sam's Club muffins are bigger too!
  • It was Member's Mark Tiramisu: For just $14.98, the tiramisu cake feeds eight people, so that works out to about $1.87 a slice. Compare that to paying at least $10 a slice at a restaurant and you get yourself a great deal. Not to mention, tiramisu is difficult and time consuming to make at home, so save time and money with this one.

7. You can even order a custom cake from Sam's Club Bakery!

7 Things You Should Know About Sam's Club Bakery (6)

You already know Sam's Everyday Baked Goods are a great deal, but you can save even more when it comes to custom cakes. Whether you're ordering for a children's party or a cheap wedding, you can save big when you buy your cake at Sam's. Their custom half sheet cake is just $20.98 and feeds 48 people, which means each slice is just $0.44.

The downside is that you cannot place a custom order online. You have to call the bakery or visit your local store to place an order. (Sam's website says they're exploring an online ordering feature, but it hasn't launched yet.)

Sam's recommends ordering at least a week in advance if you want a lot of lettering or an intricate design. They have ready-to-use undecorated cakes that you can buy the same day and they are so tempting that you won't even miss the added decoration.
